so until i get this journal into an actually presentable state, and icon commissions come in, time to throw all the notes on kuvii into one spot so people can at least get SOME idea of what they're interacting with. so!

this is kuvii! she is a paladin of the holy light, despite all appearances to the contrary (and despite her insistence that she is a shiny metalman). she comes from a world that is d&d-adjacent, uses a different pantheon entirely, and probably doesn't need dwelled on too much for a basic summary here. a very basic rundown of events:
  • kuvii is born into a goblin village on the outskirts of a forest. the village is largely peaceful and worships what they believe to be a god of the sun, thanks to the rescue from violent threat and subsequent proselytization efforts of a paladin several generations ago.
  • the sun god is more accurately described as "the holy light," something which was lost in translation between a very western paladin and a bunch of goblins that did not speak his language natively, and is thought of as a sort of progenitor god to the more minor deities that are largely worshipped nowadays
  • beginning from a young age, kuvii begins to have enigmatic visions and nightmares of weird shit, and after confiding in the village elder he names her the reincarnation of the "shiny metalman" that saved their tribe.
  • she is raised to be as capable a combatant as the village can manage, to wear what armor they have to spare, and to follow a stricter moral code than the others - which is still DEFINITELY not paladin appropriate, whoops
  • at the age of 19, she is deemed an adult and ceremonially banished from the village with all the well-wishes and gifts they can spare, with the end goal of stopping the visions of destruction she's been gifted with
  • she proceeds to get thrown in jail for stealing food on a technicality. after a daring escape orchestrated by a gang to free their leader, she begins to develop a ragtag group of friends including a cutpurse, a sex worker on the run from her old employer, and a convicted murderer who refused to defend himself or give a reason for his actions. can these outcasts, society's unwanted, truly be the herores of the light?
  • yes
  • they are in fact the prophecied heroes that's it that's the story

so what is kuvii like? well, brace yourself, because
  • surprise, surprise, the paladin is actually kind of nice, with a general aim to help the world and a general well-meaning to her actions!!
  • but also, she has a raw practicality a LOT of paladins are missing, partially due to her devotion to the light/good overtaking any allegiance to the law she might have
  • as a goblin, her sense of legality is not the best defined. a good example: she considers stealing to be bad, because you could be harming someone by taking something they need to live! however, if someone has set something down or not taken it with them, it obviously doesn't hold that level of importance, and thus is not technically stealing. this is why the paladin carries lockpicks everywhere.
  • she means well but is not the most socially graceful, and will absolutely call people out if they do something she thinks is stupid. (to her credit, she'll also accept being called out as dumb.) stupid things include: fighting one on one with a dishonorable opponent, not checking your food and drink for poisons, going alone to a trap when you could just hide your friends and ambush them
  • basically she's the most matter-of-fact, non-judgmental, kinda awkward paladin who will absolutely use dirty tricks if it's for the greater good
  • really likes teaching lessons in a hands-on way. like "if someone says something wrong, show them how wrong they are"
